This is my last plublication before the exam. I know that it is a bit late and I must be sleeping and resting, but these days full of exams I am suffering some sleeping disorders. Anyway, here I am, taking advantage of my time!
I feel a mix of sensations because of my exams: nervousness, tiredness, sadness... However and at the same time, I feel just the contrary: happiness, excitement or even that I am full of strength! Sincerely, I think I am going crazy! Added to this, I have not seen my family since the start of January and I miss them too much. My friends are not in Murcia either, so it is being a difficult month for me.
Nevertheless, this is our last week of exams, we are in the final stages! So let's be positive and look on the bright side! Think that nothing is impossible, that our future is in our hands and we have the opportunity to do it in our way!

Her lips are like the galaxy's edge and her kiss the color of a constellation
Here we are
after two weeks full of all type of emotions. I have enjoyed a lot Christmas,
most of all, because I have seen the people I have missed: my family, my
friends, neighbours … This is the meaning of Christmas: being with the ones we
love. However, all these experiences have gone, they have finished, but not forever!
Now another step comes: exams… Despite this, we have to think that it is a little
more effort. The future is in our hand, so let’s make it happen positively!
Good luck guys!
Global warming is a phenomenon that is destroying our planet little by little and it is mainly caused by human actions. It is one of the biggest problems with which we live nowadays and it can get worse if we do not do anything quickly. What will happen if we do not try to stop it? It is probably floodings and huge innundations to happen and our planet will be destroyed. But, is there anything we could do to improve global warming? Of course, there are a lot of small solutions that can make the problem change.
As somebody that is always moving in the city, we could use public transport more frequently or go on foot. Less carbon dioxide is used, you can meet new people and, by foot, you are practicing sports. If you do not like these ideas, you could buy a car with an electric motor: it is less noisy, as confortable as the other and, sometimes, even cheaper! Another solution is to separate our waste and recycle. It is so useful and funny; you can prove to do it such as a game! It seems not to be too serious but if you take a shower with cold or warm water, it would help to reduce global warming. If you think, these solutions are not enough; here there is one more: change your typical bulbs and buy the ones that consume less. In addition, they illuminate as much as the others!
In a nutshell, as you can see there are many options in our hands to solve the problem. These are not all the solutions but if everyone of us starts moving and making small changes in our lives, there will be a notorious improvement. Consequently our planer will live for many more years. We must take care of it, let's save our plane!
Having good habits help us to have a happier life and to get all our goals.
1. Sports in our lives
Physically:
- Sports make us stronger so we can
feel more confortable with our body.
- At the same time, we can lose weight and look better. - Practising sports twice a week at least, we can avoid some illness like obesity.
Mental:
- While doing a good training, we
forget about our problems.
- We renovate
energies. We get into a more positive world.
- It helps us to
clarify our thoughts.
2. Avoiding bad habits (sedentary life, smoking, alcohol, ...) will provide us with:
Healthier life:
- Also avoiding dangerous illness
such as cancer.
- Our defenses and
neurons will not be killed.
Positive aspects:
- If we are able to say
"no" to drugs, we will obtain more will power.
- We will be a
good example for other people with bad habits problems.
3. A good diet is an important factor for our happiness and healthier life
Our body needs certain nutrients
and vitamins that are requiered for a good development.
- Eating five times a day.
- Eating all types
of food.
- Avoiding fast
food and similarities.
A good development means to feel
good and out of problems
- We will improve our physicall and
mental health.
4. To be happy and healthy, it is necessary to follow a little bit difficult process, but in the end, we will see that we are able to live better and have better relationships and we will be proud of ourselves.
I am sure
that you have seen this classic of Disney! It is one of my favourite movies of
Walt Disney since my childhood. This movie is loosely based on the tragedy of
Hamlet, by William Shakespeare and, as we all know, it revolves around a little
lion. Simba, as he is called, learns which his place is in the life cycle in
the savannah, fighting against some obstacles until he turns into the
legitimate king.
The soundtrack, composed by Hans Zimmer, won a Tony as well as the Academy Award for best original soundtrack. The film also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture. Always that I want to relax, I listen to its songs: Circle of life, I just can’t wait to be king, They live in you… Of course, I recommend you to enjoy the music score as I do! And remember: HAKUNA MATATA!
Invisible
friend is a tradition in which members of a group are randomly assigned a
person to whom they anonymously give a gift. I love this kind of popular games!
I have been participating in this tradition since about 2011 with my friends
and it is more exciting every year. However, sometimes I do not know what to buy as a present because
each year it is a bit more difficult. Although that, I still enjoying it as the
first year!
Is it a good idea to change our name? It would have many benefits but also many disadvantages. It would carry a lot of official documents movements and many delinquents would hide from the police more easily. However, people may be much happier. It permit to change a bit your life: it may avoid taunts and bullying, it can be chosen a popular or famous name and, the most important point, people can feel safer and more comfortable.
Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and focus on what could go right
I don't know where I read this but I still remember this sentence sounding inside my head, making me think and giving me strength. Today I feel happy, in high spirits, so I am going to take advantage of it and I'll give you all an advice: forget about the problems, breath in and breath out. We are here for who knows how many days? Enjoy your life and take a chance, expose yourself to adventure, to destiny.
The
atmosphere, the thin gas layer that surrounds our planet, is responsible for
keeping stable the Earth’s temperature. However, the average global temperature
has been rising since the twentieth century. This phenomenon is principally due
to the emission of greenhouse gases. These gases occur naturally in the
atmosphere, but its composition has been modified by human activity. Industrial
activities and the use of automobiles have contributed to greenhouse gas
emissions, becoming the atmosphere thicker, which has caused the temperature of
the planet increases.
This is
known as global warming, a phenomenon that causes negative effects in many
activities such as droughts or the rising of the sea level, which will cause
huge floods. Given the magnitude of this problem, there have been many efforts
to combat it such as the reduction of the emissions of gases by buying
energy-efficient light bulbs. Although they are a little bit more expensive, they
save much more energy and illuminate as well as the other light bulbs.
Other
possible solution is to use electric-powered cars. They produce less noise,
almost imperceptible vibrations and emit almost no heat. With electric mobility
vehicles we can travel on the most limited traffic areas for reasons of road
pollution. We also can use more frequently public transport; in this way we
will not spend much money and we will probably meet nice people! Another way to
solve global warming is riding bicycles. More physical exercise will be done
and there would be less traffic in our cities.
Some other solutions are recycling and separating rubbish (splinter of
glass, cardboard, paper, plastic, organic waste…). There is a problem with this
answer: there are people working on this, so consequently, this would suppose
the unemployment of a lot of workers. Taking a shower with warm or cold water
also helps: the water vapor will not propagate across the atmosphere. Planting
more trees suppose the absorption of large amounts of carbon dioxide and the
more oxygen liberation.
After analyzing various ways to deal with the phenomenon of global warming,
all of them are necessary. Little by little we must open our mind and think that
if we do not start actuating now, then it will be too late. Perhaps as the
change of this phenomenon is gradual, there are few incentives to modify the
behavior of agents. A much stronger position to realize the seriousness of the
matter disorder is needed.
Last Friday night was Halloween, a holiday
celebrated in the majority of English speaking countries. Celebrated the night
of October 31, it was said that the spirits visited their relatives’ houses.
The villagers had to put a candle in the window of their houses for each
decedent who had in the family so that the spirts would not bother them. If
there wasn’t any candle, they would disturb them and made the villagers fall in
terrible nightmares.
How is it celebrated?
People often disguise and go to parties or visit
haunted houses. There are several games
traditionally associated with Halloween parties. One common game is dunking or apple bobbing, called dooking
in Scotland. In this game, apples float in a tub or a large basin of water and the
participants must use their teeth to remove an apple from the basin. It is also traditional to decorate houses and the well-known trick-or-treating. It is a customary
celebration for children. They go in costume from house to house asking for
treats such as candy or sometimes money, with the questions “trick or treat?”
The word “trick” refers to “threat” to perform mischief on the homeowners or
their property if no treat is given.
I like Halloween although I have never
celebrated it. This night I prefer staying at home watching films related to
this party. My favorite one is TheNightmare
before Christmas. That was my plan for last Friday night! This movie was
directed by Henry Slick and produced by Tim Burton and Denise DiNovi. It was
performed for the first time in the
United States in 1993.
The Nightmare before Christmas is about a character
called Jack Skellington, the pumpkin king of Halloween Town. He is bored of
doing the same all years until he discovers Christmas. Jack was fascinated and
he liked it so much that he decided to improve it. However, his vision of the
celebration is totally contrary to the spirit of Christmas. His plan includes the
kidnapping of Santa Claus and introducing quite macabre changes. This is one of
my favourite movie and it is really entertained and funny. I recommend you to
watch it if you haven’t done it yet. You will enjoy!
Being vegetarian
means not eating meat, fish, fowl, or, in some cases, any food made from
animals. Most of the time, vegetarians don’t eat meat because their ethics is
related to defend human rights of animals. The Academy of Nutrition and
Dietetics and the Dietitians Association of Canada believe that appropriately
planned vegetarian diets are healthful. However there are many advantages and
also disadvantages we should discuss.
The diet based
primarily on grains, vegetables and fruits, helps to control diabetes. In
addition, a varied and properly balanced vegetarian diet provides the necessary
levels of nutrients that our body needs. Fruit, grains and vegetables contain
vitamins, amino acids and minerals that our organism requires. People who eat
just vegetables register a lower level in their body mass index (BMI). Several
analyzes have shown that death from ischemic heart disease was significant
lower in vegetarians compared with non-vegetarians. As you can see, we have
several good reasons to stop eating food made from animals, but there aren’t
only benefits.
On the contrary, vegetarians
don’t get enough B12 vitamins. Therefore, children who are fed under these nourishments
may suffer developmental delays and malnutrition. Our bodies need complete
proteins to function correctly. Vitamins animals are complete, but vegetables vitamins
are not. Consequently, they must be combined so that all vegetable protein supply
is enough. If we don’t apply correctly all nutrients we need, we can take a
risk that can help to provoke several unnecessary problems, disruptions or
diseases such as anaemia, zinc deficiency, calcium fault, etc.
As you can check,
vegetarian diets can be beneficial in the prevention and treatment of certain
diseases. As opposed to this, they also may be detrimental to our health. So,
you have the choice in your hands!
Here is a song
written by Paul McCartney called Heart of the Country. The topic is as simple as the title, a man
searching for a farm in the middle of nowhere. The song reflects Paul's
heading for the Scottish countryside to escape the headaches associated with
the Beatles' breakup at the time. However, McCartney and Elvis
Costello re-recorded the song in 2013 for a commercial featuring his late wife
Linda's vegetarian recipe book.
What's the topic of the TED talk? What's the main idea? When does the speaker introduce his idea? How?
The topic of the TED talk are creativity and education. The main idea is that education does not improve creativity. The speaker introduce his idea at the beggining of the speech with funny stories, anecdotes or aluding to other conferences.
What are the means support used by the speaker to convince us that his opinion is right? Provide examples.
He tells us a story about a girl who could not sit down and pay attention. Her parents took her to a dancer school and she became a brilliant dancer.
What's the speaker conclusion? How does he "conclude"?
His conclusion is that we have to change the education system to improve all our skills and talents. He concludes animating all parents to encourage their children to develop their skills.
Everybody likes going out at nights, but I prefer staying at home. Almost all people I know don't like my idea because they usually love parties. However it's better because you can relax on the sofa. In addition, you can read a book, watch a movie, surf the internet... A lot of options! Personally talking, I like both ideas, but think about it: you're tired after some hours in class, you have to get up early to work in your tasks... it's better to relax! I know that dancing, laughing, meeting our friends...is funny but it also makes you feel tired. All in all, both options are good, but from my point of view, the best you can do at nights is to put your pyjamas on and enjoy your "home time"!
There are many big differences between living in a big city or living in a small town. I live in a town with about 8000 inhabitants. It is not the best place of the world but it has its advantages. It's easy to go places by foot because all places are more or less close. The movements in a town don't produce much noise, so you can relax calmly. Likewise, everyone knows almost everybody because there isn't a huge population. On the other hand, living in a big city is also a good option. However, you would use more frequently public transportation because, unlike living in a village, places are not so close. This way you would know new people! There is a lot of noise in a city due to all traffic that congestionates streets and roads. In contrast, you wouldn't relax as much as in a town, unless you live on the eight floor of a large building! As cities are bigger than towns, it's really difficult to know everybody; which means you will always be on time to make new friends! Athough cities and villages have all posibilities to live there, both are very different experiences.
Orange is the New Black is an American comedy-drama series created by Jenji
Kohan. The series is based on Piper Kerman’s memoir, Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison, about her
experience in prison.
The series revolves around Piper Chapman, a bisexual
woman living in New York. She is sentenced to 15 months in a women’s federal
prison for transporting a suitcase full of drug money to her girlfriend, Alex,
who is an international drug smuggler. The offense occurred ten years before the start
of the series, and in that time Piper had moved on to a quiet life among New
York's upper middle class. In prison, Piper is reunited with Alex and they re-examine
their relationship and deal with their fellow inmates.
I have
seen two seasons of Orange is the New Black and I am waiting for the third. I
really like this TV series. In my opinion, it’s good that people create this
type of series because we can become aware of how prisons can be, and the same
occurs with people living there. Each person is a world with its own problems
and I think that this series reflects that. Although we are different races,
colors and thoughts, we are people and therefore, we should treat everyone
equally.
In
addition, it’s a fantastic series. You can feel thousands different emotions in
each minute. I love its spontaneity, its plot… Both seasons are perfect. It is really
interesting and entertaining but, above all, it makes you empathize with each
character. I couldn’t say anything bad about it because everything seems
perfect to me. I just can recommend you to watch it, I promise you’d like!
I have got just one sister, her name is Pilar and she is older than me. She has short dark hair with big brown eyes. About her personality, she is too nice to people but sometimes she gets really nervous too soon. When we were younger, we passed all the time quarrelled but now it is different: we talk more about our personal problems, we share our hobbies and we usually go out together. At this moment, we do not see each one very much but, in spite of that, we still talking and laughing everyday.
Have you ever been in Salamanca? I went eight months
ago for some days and I love it!
Salamanca is a big city located in the west central
part of Spain and it counts with almost 150 000 inhabitants. If you visit the
city someday, you shouldn’t miss its large, beautiful, ancient and peaceful square.
It is called Plaza Mayor and I felt amazed and surprised when I saw it. The
huge square is also a touristic and a bit expensive area. It offers many
stores and coffee shops and there the town hall takes place. Around it there are medallions made of stone
with the faces of all historical characters related with Spain’s History. The
best of the place is the people and the comfortable atmosphere, so I recommend
you to go! You would like it!
One of the most interesting ways of learning a language is travelling abroad. For exmaple, I went to Épinal, a French town, two years ago. My classmates and I stayed there for ten days living eac one with a native family. At first, I felt nervous because I am not an expert and I didn't know anyone. It is too difficult, but in the end, you learn a lot because you have no option, you have to speak and communicate with the rest. It was one of the most beautiful experiences and, as I thought it would be, I arrived home with much knowledge of the language and the way of living there.
I'm writing for the first time and not the last, I hope! I have never written a personal blog, so I don't control very much this area of social networks... But let's go!
I'm Lucía González and I'm eighteen years old. I'm from Tobarra (Albacete), a little town with no more than 8000 inhabitants. Tobarra is popular because of its Easter Week and its drums. The distinctive feature of Tobarra is its 104 uninterrupted hours playing drums. No town plays the drum for so many non-stop hours. That's the most important about Tobarra. I hope you to come one day and enjoy as much as possible!
Talking
about me, I'm an average person with a casual look and I like wearing my way. I'm not fashionist or stylish. When
it comes to my personality I'm nice, affectionate, a bit sensitive, responsible
with my tasks and quite kind to my friends.
My
hobbies are going out, reeding, meeting my friends and watching films or TV series. I also love listening to music because, in my opinion, it's
a reflection of personality. My favourite bands are Arctik Monkeys and Kaiser Chiefs.
That's all of me! I hope you to visit more frequently my blog!
